Two sources, one card

I don't have this hardware setup yet, but I've been thinking about different possible configurations and it raised some questions. Lets say you have a multiple tuner setup and all the tuners are hooked up to regular cable on the coax input and one of them (call it card A) also has a source configured on, say, the composite input. If SageTV is recording something from the tuner on card A, and card B is idle, what happens if you request to view live tv or record from the composite input on card A? Does it just tell you that it can't? Or does it, or could it, switch the current tuner based recording on card A off to card B? I'm not saying that this is what it should do, or that it would be a priority for anyone, but the way Sage can playback seamlessly from a recording split into parts, I would think that it shouldn't be impossible to shift a recording from one card to another.

Just wondering.

When choosing Programs to record or view you are not prompted to select the tuner to use. Sage determines this on its own based on the channels available for each tuner and what's going to be recorded in the future.

However, if a channel is only available on one tuner and you are currently using that tuner, SageTV will prompt you to ask if you want to change channels and cancel the current recording.

That is pretty much what I expected. It would be a bit of work to do what I suggested for only an occasional pay off. I don't suppose that Sage prioritizes which cards to use for a recording if more than one were available? That way at least it would only use the dual source card if all the others were busy... even if it was just a manual, static list of the order you wanted them used that might be pretty handy for a number of reasons.

There is a priority setting in the properties file for the available tuners.

Excellent. Now that I have a mulituner setup this might just come in very handy. Thanks,
