Remote Control for Sage Client ???
I have the Hauppage PVR 250 with Remote (The Sage.TV Hardware Bundle).. but my situation is that my PVR is a server in my garage, and I intend to watch the recordings via networked clients.. but the remote is for the hardware card in the garage and does me no good on my clients..
How cool would it be if somebody could develop a way to use the remote on the clients! I am told I can extend the IR cable over 100 feet, so I could put the sensor on my client.. but unless the client could somehow communicate with the 'server' as to what the IR is receiving.. it wouldn't help me.. Any ideas?? |

Get an IR receiver such as IRMan, UIRT, etc. Then get Girder. Problem solved.

The way this works is to plug your USB-UIRT into your client, then install Girder & the Sage Plugin on that client. Girder operates on commands [i.e., fast forward] that are tied to event strings [remote control buttons]. As you'll probably use a remote control of your choice, the plugin doesn't come with the remote control/event strings. [ok, technically it comes with the one for some random remote]. Then what you do is delete the event strings it came with, and add the event strings for your remote. Just press the "learn event" button while focused on the command you're coding, press the appropriate button on the remote, and you're done.
Once you have the UIRT & Girder/plugin installed, this should take about 3 minutes. I do this with my Sage Clients and it works just fine. I'm repurposing the DirecTV remote as I'll only either watch Sage or straight-through TV. |
