UIRT Questions From A Noob
I am running Sage 6.19 on Vista Ultimate. All of my video sources are set up and working fine. I have my USB-UIRT (the 38 model) plugged in and have been able to "teach" it codes within SageTV. I taught it 0-9, plus Power and Enter. When I go into the program guide and tell Sage to change channels, I can see that the UIRT is transmitting something (light is blinking), but the channel never changes.
So, what I am doing wrong? I am using a Dish Network 322 set top box. If I use the Dish network remote, obviously everything works fine. If I take the UIRT and point it straight into the IR port on the set top box, the channel still doesn't change. What am I doing wrong? |

I would first of all make sure that SageTV is able to change the channel of your STB by itself - without the remote. Use keyboard commands and verify that the channel changes - by selecting a show in the guide, entering the digits then enter and ch-up ch-down commands. If SageTV is changing the channels OK then move on to the remote via the Commands sub-screen in detailed setup.

OK, I tried that and Sage cannot control the Set top box.
If I click Watch Live TV from the Sage menu, then I can see whatever channel the set top is tuned to. If I use the num-pad and type in "120" and hit enter, it shows the digits being entered in the Sage menu, and brings up the EPG info for whatever program is on channel 120 at the time. But the channel never changes. |

I had a terrible time getting USBUIRT to learn... I think there was a suggestion to NOT use service mode while you are setting it up.
Then go into settings > setup video sources > Pick source <select> to get to the source details screen. Ont this screen navigate to the Tuner control: item on the right pane <Select> In this menu, you can use the test Infrared codes, but before I even bother with that, select reprogram IR code and re-teach them here. You will need to hold your dish remote very close to the USBUIRT during learning. Hope this helps. |

Are the remote commands learned correctly? Go to the Source Details screen for the tuner using the USB-UIRT, then select the Tuner Control option to see a dialog where you can test commands and relearn them -- around p. 157 of the v6.1 PDF manual.
