My lowest resolution option is 800x600. How would I get to 720X480??

Hi all, I have a PVR-250 with an ATI Radeon 9200 outputted to a 50" HDTV screen. Everything runs smoothly but while tweaking the settings to the best of my abilities, I've also read that going to the lower resolution may help the quality. Is that true? If so, the lowest resolution I can choose is 800x600 in the control panel. How can I get it any lower? Thanks.

I, and many others, use a program called PowerStrip.

http://www.entechtaiwan.com/ps.htm

Install it and you'll get an icon in the system tray. Right click it, select Display Profiles, then select Configure, and then set your desired resolution, color depth, and refresh rate

Go to:

Display Properties -> Settings -> Advanced -> Adapter -> List All Modes

From there you can select 640x480, True Color (32bit), 60Hz

That's another way to do it, if you want to use standard default resolutions. But... If you want true HD resolution output from your computer, PowerStrip will allow you to set custom resolutions like 848x480 or 960x540 that aren't available from the List All Modes option from the Windows Display Properties. It may take some experimentation to find the right resolution/refresh rate combos that work with your setup.

I forgot to mention...to setup your custom resolutions, as I mentioned, it's right click the PowerStrip tray icon-->Display Profiles-->Configure. But then you have to click the Advanced Timing Options-->Custom Resolution buttons to get to the config window to choose/create custom resolutions.

As an added bonus, you can change your color settings from PowerStrip as well. Right click tray icon-->Color Profiles-->Configure. I know you can do the same thing with the Windows Display Properties, but with my nVidia drivers I have to jump through too many hoops to get there. With PowerStrip I'm there in 2 mouse clicks

Are there any other options besides PowerStrip that are freeware? Looking for something that does the job but don't want to shell out any extra money for it. Thanks.
