Controlling SageTV from a ProGear tablet
Is there any way to use a ProGear or tablet to display the SageTV EPG only? I'd like to be able to scroll through the EPG / controls, etc on the ProGear without interrupting TV programming on the TV. I thought that was the purpose of the SageTV Client program (similar to Cinemar's client / server approach), but, I was wrong....
I've seen comments here and there about cooperation between Cinemar and Frey Technologies and integration of their products, but searches on AVSForum, Cinemar and the Frey site haven't turned-up a thing. Any news on this? btw, I have digital cable and will likely need to use Girder and a USBUIRT to control my stb, no? TIA. Brad |

At this time you need a device that can run the SageTV Client application to have access to the EPG. In the future we will look at widening this to run SageTV as a service to access certain components but don't have a timeframe on this right now.
On the server side you don't necessarily need Girder with SageTV and the UIRT device. You only need Girder if you require it for other applications. SageTV has a built-in learning function which doesn't require the use of Girder.
