High CPU usage on SageTV Server

Hi,

Just go done installing my first version of SageTV and I have been noticing that I have a java process running that is taking up to 99% of the CPU even when SageTV is sitting there idle. Is this normal? Also am having some issues with my TV picture quality I am thinking it might be a hardware problem with my PVR-500 card. Does anyone know of a good way to check this card for issues?

As far as picture quality What distro are you using? If you are susing a distro with a kernel of 2.6.18 or higher then the newest IVTV drivers have imporved picture quality dramatically for me. I have a PVR-150 and a PVR-500. The PVR-150 always had good quality but the PVR-500 since it has different tuners on it the quality was not worth watching until I upgraded to the newest IVTV driver. I also have not had very high CPU usage at all the only time the Usage goes to 100% is if I transcode something or watch a HD show

Are you using the media center features of Sage? If so, how many mp3/titles are you attempting to index? I had a problem with a collection of about 40K mp3s that caused high CPU utilization whenever sage tried to scan the directories and update it's index...

This is a fresh install I only have like 1 song on the system and like dvd in /var/media. I have let this high CPU go over night and it seems like this never goes away. I kill the java process and then everything seems to be working normal without the hight CPU usage. Then the next time I reboot the box. The java process starts again using most of the CPU. How do I tell what version of the driver I have for the PVR-500 card?
