Can I see the events of the current day in the main screen

Hi,

1. Can I see the events from the calendar (like birthdays) on the main screen (for example under the date box)?

2. Can I choose whice calendar to show (if for example I have two calendar and I want show only one)?

Thanks

I second that thought. Also - Any chance that an alarm feature could be added, maybe with a configurable alert time (30min/1hr/etc before event).

OK - Here is where I get greedy with a couple more requests:
  1. Have the left display (Date/Sunrise/Events) optional, and have it slide out if you highlight a date in the calendar with events, sort of like the BACK/FORWARD navigation bar on the top? That way there would be more room to display the month calendar and more events in each day?
  2. An option where only the starting time is displayed in the month calendar for events? Again, making more room.
  3. When entering the daily screen, have it position itself at the current time?
Sorry for the requests, but this import is actually pretty huge - it might just keep us on-time for events!

We had planned to include this feature in the initial release, but we decided to release the calendar now and add this feature in a future version. We have some ideas for this. We are looking into creating a feed for the ticker and/or adding an audio/visual alert. This is going to take quite a bit more work, but it is on the to do list.

This is not possible with the current version. I'll look into this for the next release.

LOL, a silent launch, huh? Just saw this in the Customization notice forum e-mail...

I'd think someone would want to brag over on the main SageMC thread. I feel like I've been left in the dark the past 2 days!

Nice work. This will be on my short list of things to do sometime in the near future. Never messed with GooCalendar yet...looks interesting. Should I store social secrurity numbers along with the birthdays of every family member, along with maden names? I guess not...LOL.

This shouldn't be a problem and it makes sense for 4x3 displays.

Displaying only the event start time within the calendar would take a lot of work. Right now I just display the list of events as received. This one may not make it in.

I'll look into this one as well.

Thanks for the suggestions.

Wee point... After adding an event, it is shown next to "All day event" on the daily planner screen rather than next to the appropriate timeslot.

Also, any plans to implement reminder features?
What start/end times did you use for the event where this happened? That will help me track it down. The reminder/alert features are in the works. Thanks for the feedback.

Aloha,
Mike

Dang, you found it. I'll have to hide it better next time.

I didn't even think to put an announcement over there. Oops.

Thanks! BTW, you should only put that kind of private and sensitive info on the calendar if you explicitly set it as publicly accessible. Otherwise, what would be the point?

Aloha,
Mike

Happens for any start / end times. The earliest item is displayed next to 'All day event' and all the time slots are blank.

I'm wondering if this is related to another issue I have - no encoder icons. Seems to only have happened after I installed the Webradio plugin. Will re-install MC to see if that helps.

EDIT: After re-installing MC 6.3.2c, the encoder icons are back, but the 'all day event' calendar issue remains.

Ok, can you try this? After you enter an event and it shows up in the 'All Day Event' slot, go back to the main calendar screen. Now bring up the options menu and select 'Refresh Events'. Does the new event now show up properly in the main calendar with start/end times, or does it show up without any times listed? If the times show up properly, try going back to the daily planner screen and see if the event now shows up properly there. This should help narrow it down for me. Thanks.

Aloha,
Mike

Edit: I just had another thought. In what format do your times appear? 12hr AM/PM or 24hr? I only set up the text parsing based on 12hr AM/PM format.

Shows up fine in the main screen anyway, but refreshing still has the event in all day slot. The start / end times are included in the event description... e.g. 06:30 - 07:00 Test event

Format is 24hr. If I change MC to 12hr, perhaps it will

EDIT: Hmm, changing MC to 12hr format doesn't seem to change the issue. I guess the setting is buried somewhere else.

I was afraid of that. The events retrieved from your google calendar account are already in 24hr format. I'll have to add parsing for that format to get them to appear properly. Thanks for the example.

Mike

Hyperbaric,

Could you unzip the attached STV file into your ...SageTV\STVs\SageTV3\ folder and load it into sage? It is SageMC 6.3.2c with the calendar already imported plus my new modifications. I added a new item to the calendar options to use if your events are in 24hr format. Please enable this and let me know if your events then appear correctly in the Daily Planner. Thanks!

Mike

Mike,

I am have some issues with my calendar. I see the same thing on 3 computers and have tried your test import 1b. There are some entries that just don't show up. And some repeated entries may show up one week and not the next. Next week is not showing any of the calendar events.

I also cannot enter new events. I type them in, but after hitting OK they do not show up on the Sage calendar but show up when viewed under Google.

If you want I can share my calendar with you if you want to look at it. If so just send me your username to add for access. Thanks. It is a cool addition.

Morgan

Hi Morgan,

I'll e-mail you my username. Quick question: What version of java are you using? The google calendar api's require a minimum of java 1.5.

Aloha,
Mike
