Thumbs down

There is a known issue in sageTV with Nvidia based hardware acceleration in sageTV with VMR9 in Vista which causes jerky video; usually, with no sound (on some 1080i material). This happens on all mpeg2 decoders except for non-hardware assisted video decoders like sageTV's. This has been tested with Cyberlink's latest DVD decoder, Nvidia Puervideo decoder, including the MS Mpeg2 decoder mentioned in this thread. This is reproducible on the Nvidia 85xx series display adapters using the latest offical NVidia drivers. There is no known fix for this except getting an ATI video card.

I wouldnt call it great success. There are people who get it to work with the above mentioned exceptions. SageTV engineering already knows of the criteria necessary to reproduce this behavior.

Hi Mike and happy 4th! Unfortunately SageTV doesn’t give ETAs. The good news is they are fully aware of the problem and they can reproduce it. I'm not too optimistic they will fix this relatively big problem anytime soon.

Thanks,
Michael

Well, they should mod their system requirements page to show it doesn't work under Vista.

Thanks
mike

For what its worth :

I have a Nvidia 8500GT card, use VMR9, and the Nvidia Purevide Decoder on Vista Business. My video quality is PERFECT - on all HD sources. I'm very picky about HD picture quality, and the above combination is working extremely well for me......

btl.

Might check Post #2 ... I have all three working fine (sage, purevideo and vista) even with shows stored on my NAS. I am using standard def though ... Not sure if that makes a difference for you.
