Actisys 200L COM issue
I'm using a PVR350 with a VIA EPIA M10000 under Win XP. I can't seem to get the computer/ Sage Recorder talking to the Actisys IR200L. I have it plugged into COM1 which is the only port with a connector on the board.
I downloaded HE remote and used it with two other computers to detect the actisys. They were on Win2000. HE worked fine and detected the IR unit. But on two identical VIA units (identical) it doesn't work. On my VIA unit I had the FIR drivers installed. After reading these discussion forums, I uninstalled the drivers and then disabled the IR in the BIOS. There are no modems installed and I disabled the automodem in the BIOS. I see two COM ports in the hardware listing of the device manager. The settings are automatic, but are for the standard I/O and IRQ for COM 1&2. The Sage recorder goes one farther in that in the sources menu it will let me select the Actisys, but can't detect it to add a device. But even if I select the stub transmitter, it won't let me add a device. What am I doing wrong? I'm beginning to bang my head on the desk on this one. |

I have that exact setup (Epia 1000M, 350PVR and Actisys 200L on Com 1.) I have had some strangeness using the Actisys. I find that sometimes if I tell Sage it is on Com 3 instead of Com 1 and it will find it and work. However sometimes when I restart the computer it won't find it. Usually I can exit SageTV and start it again and it works, but sometimes I have to run through the wizard again. Try selecting Com 3 in the setup wizard and see what happens.

I'll give it a try, but I don't hold out too much hope, since the HE remote program is testing all the COM ports. On my other machines it detects 100% of the time.

I had a similar problem. I finally gave up and just used HE Remote and the EXE Tuner plugin to control the Actysis. It works great now.
The latest version of HE Remote has an easy install for use with SageTV. Paul |
