Invalid DVD icon displayed

I watched a DVD last night in 6.1.7 and Sage displayed the \SageTV\STVs\SageTV3\DVDInvalidOp.png in the upper right hand corner the whole time. I've never seen this before and it was quite annoying. What is this icon for and how does onw keep it from being displayed?

It is only supposed to be shown when an invalid command has been given, such as using FF in a place where the DVD says you can't do that.

Is this the default STV? Have any customizations been applied? Does it happen with other DVDs?

Is the OSD set to automatically hide after a timeout? See Detailed Setup -> Customize -> OSD Autohide. Once shown, the invalid op icon is supposed to go away on its own via the timeout, or after you show & hide the OSD.

I am using the comskip STVi but that is the only customization. Haven't tried it with any other DVD's but I have one coming from Netflix tomorrow. The OSD timeout is default 5 seconds.

The icon stayed up on the screen the entire movie but every few minutes it would disapear for about half a second.

Try it with the same DVD using the default STV w/o any customizations.

Unfortunately, that DVD is already in the mail back to Netflix. If it happens with another DVD I'll switch back to the default STV and try again.

Please remember to test & post your results about this. I wasn't able to reproduce it, but just to be safe, we're going to remove the image from v6.1 until we have more time to test & double check what is happening.

Oh -- save a copy of the image to test with because the next installer will remove it.

The DVD I watched tonight played OK. No invalid op icon displayed at all. Maybe the one that did have the icon was just a badly coded DVD.

So, as the thread title says, it might have been an "invalid DVD". What DVD was it?

The icon will still be out of v6.1, just in case. Like I said above, the underlying code to display it is still there, so you could keep the icon & see what happens.

The title of the DVD was "Beowulf and Grendel" and I rented it from Netflix.
