Nova-T-500 - second tuner not available

Hi,

I'm planning on building a PVR, and I'm currently trying to decide which software to go for (It's between Vista MC, MythTV and SageTV). I downloaded the SageTV Windows trial version, and was quite pleased with the simplicity (compared to MythTV) of the setup. Unfortunately, I cannot work out how to get the second tuner of my Nova-T-500 to be picked up. I've gone throught the "setup video sources" loads of times, but it only ever shows "Nova-DT DVB-T Capture (Dev1 Path0) Digital TV Tuner" available to add. I have previously installed the latest Vista drivers from Hauppauge, and both Media Center and MythTV (with some downloaded Linux drivers) have successfully discovered both tuners.

The one tuner it can find is working fine!

Am I missing something fundamental?

Also, (assuming this issue can be sorted), I'd be quite keen to go for the Linux version of the software, for reasons of stability, smaller resource footprint, and price (I'm just using a time-limited trial version of Vista at the mo - I'll need to buy Vista/XP to use the windows version of SageTV)

Thanks in advance for any help, and I hope the question isn't too stupid (I have searched!).

Nova TD - second tuner not available

Hi,
I have the Nova TD stick with two tuners and I also have only one tuner available in Sage. Have you submitted a bug report ?

Best Regards, Kenneth

Thanks for the response. I haven't submitted a bug report as yet. As I'm very new to SageTV, I thought I'd better check I wasn't missing something obvious first!

If no-one points out anything in the next day or so, I'll submit a bug report.

Cheers,

Richard

I'm thinking of buying one of these cards so it would be nice to know if you get it working.

I finally bought one, and Sage see's both tuners, as..
Nova-DT DVB-T Capture (Dev1 Path0) Digital TV Tuner" and
Nova-DT DVB-T Capture (Dev1 Path1) Digital TV Tuner".

When I set up the first one, it works fine, but when I set up the second one, it gives the "No Signal" message.

I tried using hauppauges own software but can't work out how to record one channel and then watch another, its pretty crap isn't it.

Anyway, I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem and can help me.

I'm also struggling getting the EPG data sorted properly, but am happy to sort that out after I know the second tuner is working.

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks.

EDIT: forget to say I'm using the latest Sage

Argghhhhhh, finally sussed that one, it had created a frequencies file for each tuner, and the second tuners file was tiny compared to the first one.

I deleted the second one, then copied the first and renamed it to the name of the second one. It now shows the channels.

I still have some hair left, but I expect most of that will go when I setup the channels and EPG data.

Does anyone know of an easy way to align the channels and frequencies? I use Stephane's importer which allows me to create a second lineup (the first lineup is for 2 Sky STB's), I was hoping there'd be an easy way to get the second lineup to match up with the correct frequencies somehow without having to remap all the channels in the source setup.

Anyone have any advice on this?

I too use Stephane's importer to create a second lineup for freeview: then you can mapped each channel in the xmltv lineup by setting it to the 'physical channel' no of the frequency file.

I got Stephane's importer working in the end. I had problems joining the sky and the freeview channel lineups, my fault as usual, but got there in the end. When recording using both freeview tuners at the same time I was getting occasional pauses and jumps in the recordings. When recording with just one of the freeview tuners it was fine.

Maybe its time for an upgrade, the xp3200 is getting a little old now
