Multi-Task Architecture

I built a machine specifically to check out this computer/video convergence stuff. So far, I'm impressed.

I started with a short list of primary functions; the EPG/TV/PVR group, Play/Copy/Burn DVDs, and Import/Author/Burn Video.

I find myself shutting down SageTV to author a DVD in WinDVD Creator and any other program I have tried. I can burn DVD images with Sage running just fine. It seems to be a shared codec issue.

My questions to the group are:

Just how much can one pc do? Is there a way to use video editing programs at the same time SageTV is running? Should I just dedicate a PC to Sage and another for editing/authoring work?

Thanx in advance. This group is great!

Have you tried putting Sage to sleep? You should be able to do just about anything with Sage "asleep".

As for devoting a PC to Sage, my advice would be yes, if you can. I have a PC devoted to TV/DVD/Music and it is perfectly stable as long as I don't mess with it. The more you mess with a PC, the more stuff you install, the more you try to do, the more stability suffers. But you shouldn't need a dedicated PC for Sage.
