Update CPU Usuage

I disabled the server function in SageTV last night.. Recorded 2 movies and well this morning I see no excess cpu usuage. Now how do I just enable SageTV to run the server as a "service" as I want to use a client to connect to it?

Thanks in advance,

Enabling the service requires you use the service application - just click on Windows Start, then click programs, then in the sage programs folder, you'll find the service application.

Note: I found that I still needed to enable the server function in the Sage client to be able to get an MVP (or remote client) to work, even when using Sage in service mode...

One thing I noticed spiked my cpu usage in sage, When I reinstalled was the thumbnail generation, This especially effected my server with both client and server running at the same time.
I wonder if they don't both try to generate thumbnails at the same time?

I turned off the thumbnail generation and voila cpu usage was absolutely normal from there on.

Change "video_thumbnail_generation=true" to "video_thumbnail_generation=false", On the server you have to do this to both the sage.properties and the sageclient.properties file, On the clients you just have to do this to sage.properties.

RE: CPU Woes

Thanks for your help. Currently I have the server disabled and do not have any cpu issues. I will take the above posts advice and try out some of the config's and see what happens.

Thanks again,

I was noticing high CPU after about a day of use with the 6.1.4 beta without using the service. I'd restart Sage, and within a day, the CPU would be back to ~100%. I had server mode enabled and I was using one MVP as well as a regular client and placeshifter client. I have since enabled the service mode, and my CPU problems have disappeared so far.

Now I just need to set up service dependencies to make sure my HDhomerun and SGraphrecorder start properly when my server boots.

I haven't tried this beta yet, but with the current version 6 my CPU usage is exactly the opposite. Recording takes more CPU cycles if you're watching and using SageService.
