Stuttering and high CPU usage...

Ok.. I"m trying to get my fusion lite to work with V4.

It works fine with the stock Fusion software.. Now I want to use it to record HD with Sage.. No matter what I do I can't get HD to playback nicely.. I get 100% CPU usage and lots of studdering. Now here is the intersting thing. Sage can play back two of the three demo files (from dvico). 2 of them play back nicely but the third plays back horribly with studering and high cpu usage like the live tv recordings. The other two play back with 40-60% usage. Now on the fusion software both say 1080i.

I have an a7n8x deluxe with a 2.06GHz Barton with 512MB and XP SP1. My video card is a saphire radeon 9600 pro atlantis. I tried VRM9 and 3d acceleration and I've tried overlay. Both suck but the overlay is slightly better. I've tried the nvidia decoder as well as the stock decoder.

Help! I want to be able to use Sage 4.

Jim

Have you tried different AUDIO codecs?

Yup... No difference... I still get 100% cpu and sage also takes a big chunk of memory when it tries to play it...
(but there is still plenty of memory left.. over 100M free)

What TV Tuner card are you using? I use an Avermedia A180 and Vbox DTA150 and I have no CPU usage issues with the nVidia codecs.

Is DMA enabled on your hard drive?

Is your hard drive SATA on a Silicon Image SATA controller?

It's a fusion 5 lite.

YES

Yes.

Again.. Two of the Fusion demo files play just fine and the one (plus anything I recorded) plays fine..

I understand that you do not want to consider that your SATA drive and controller is not the culprit, but it would behoove you to consider it a real possibility:

I'll try to record to the PATA drive tonight, but I don't think that it is the problem.. Two HD demo files play just fine from the SATA drive while the third doesn't.

Red face FYI

FYI,

I have an Nvidia mobo and had similar issues. Simply uninstalling the NVIDIA IDE driver that comes with the nforce driver pack fixed my studdering issues with the Dvico Fusion 5 Lite.
