Reset Intelligent Recording?

First, I just want to say thanks to the Sage team and all the helpful people on this board! I've been using Sage for about a month now, and it's totally changed how I watch TV.

I've been futzing around with intelligent recording, and I think I've been overly aggressive in my use of "Don't like". Is there a way I can edit or reset my training for IR?

Thanks,
Steve

Steve,

There's no way to edit the Intelligent Recording. However you can influence it by the shows you've marked as "Watched" or "Don't Like". If you see shows marked as Don't Like that you previously marked, just remove the setting. But there's no way to unmark past episodes or shows that aren't available in the guide anymore.

Well, here I am, reviving a 4 year old thread...
My intelligent recording just isn't acting the way I thought it would. Here is a good real-life example:

When I first started using Sage, I watched some Andy Griffith show. Heck, I might have even made it a favorite early on. I have sinced watched every single episode, and I really don't care to record it anymore. I have checked and know for sure it is not listed as a favorite. I have checked Don't like on so many episodes, I mean, hundreds, and still, it persists in choosing to record it.

My other issue is that Sage occasionally goes way out on a limb and chooses something totally off-the-wall that I never have watched or would. It loves to record paid programming. It does this even though I have the aggressive setting turned on.

I see I cannot edit intelligent recording, that's fine. How about just plain old resetting it so I can start over?

Short of deleting wiz.bin, and thus all of your viewing history, it would be difficult to start over. I think you can check all the old history of shows wathced and/or marked Don't Like via nielm's web server and I know you can use malore's custom menus to view the history. You can change the Watched & Don't Like settings to affect IR.

See the sticky in the customizations forum for links to those. BTW: malore's menus are included in the default STV as part of the hidden extras.

Then you should be marking them Watched, not Don't Like. Presumably you did like them, or you wouldn't have kept watching. Honesty is the best policy with IR if you want useful recommendations for similar shows. Used Watched for episodes you've already seen, and it won't record them again. Reserve Don't Like for shows you actually don't like.

I guess I wasn't very clear, I have been marking them Don't Like, over and over again, but IR persists in selecting them.

You know, it's only an annoyance. My favorites work great, and they do override IR selections. I'm sure the IR selections are the first ones to go if the hard drive fills up. The extra shows do clutter things up, but I spend a few minutes a day working on Scheduled Programs and I can usually stay ahead of it.

Thanks for the advice!

Phil

Maybe you should look into using Anti-Favorites. I was having similar issues and this has taken car of it for me.

This may be because you also have so many of them marked as Watched. You could mark the rest as Watched & be done with each episode, as Greg mentioned.

Or, if they have a white outline, there is still a Favorite for the show somewhere in the list, in which case it will keep recording the episodes except for the specific airings that you mark Don't Like. Again, mark them as Watched and/or get rid of the Fav. You can also set the Fav to record only 1 show & no auto delete. It will record 1 and stop.
