Video file played in WMP plays very jerky in Sage
I recently recorded a show through Sage 6.1.3 and when it plays back in 1080i, it is very jerky. If I play the same .mpg file in Windows Media Player, it plays back smooth as silk. I have a fast Core 2 Duo CPU and I'm using nvidia's PureVideo decoder and have Sage configured to use nvidia decoder for both audio and video.
Is there a reason why playing the same file in SageTV is so much slower than playing it in Windows Media Player? I am happy to attach the logs if anyone needs them to debug.

Which mpeg decoder are you using? Have you set it to default on the settings->Video page?

As I mentioned, I'm using Nvidia's purevideo decoder. I configured it to be Sage's decoder for both Audio and Video.

Set them both to default instead. It's a known bug. |

It's been a bug since as long as I've used Sage (version 2). I wouldn't worry about it. Since sage often requires a lot of degugging to get smooth playback, it's easier to set everything to default and debug using the various freeware directshow filter tools anyway. I personally don't trust any of the rendering settings in sage. Last edited by PhillJones; 03-05-2007 at 09:12 AM. |
