GUI messed up
Hi all,
I have Sage loaded on my home desktop as my test platform where I try things out before installing onto my PVR. Anyway, I hadn't used this copy of Sage for a while. Today when I opened it the GUI was all messed up. I have a license for 6.x (haven't installed it yet) so I figured I'd install that to see if it cleared things up. It didn't. I updated my nvidia drivers too (I have an FX5200). Still no go. I uninstalled Sage completely and installed 6.0.19. The GUI is still all screwy. Here's what it looks like: Anyone have any ideas what might be causing this? Here are some specs that might be helpful: P4 3.0GHz 1GB RAM FX5200 128MB video Latest NVidia drivers (the 93.71 driver pack) WinXP SP2 SageTV 6.0.19 DirectX 9.0c Thanks! -Gary |

If you are using 3D Acceleration, my guess would be the video card driver and/or DirectX, but it looks like those are up to date. Try disabling 3D Acceleration in Detailed Setup. What version of java is in use?

This is more of a bug report than a problem issue. In any case I would like a fix.
I have a similar problem as "gprichardson1" with the SageTV Client ver 6 running on a different PC than the SageTV server. It is odd how the OSD works then doesn't work depending on the order that SageTV is navigated. I've figured out what causes the problem and how to work around it but the work around suggests a bug in the version 6 Client Code, with how it initializes the OSD overlay. This may not happen for everyone but it happens for me. ***Steps to CREATE the problem. 1. Load STV Client ver 6. 2. Click on "Online Services". 3. Click on "Google Video". 4. Select "Top 100..." 5. Click on any Video. The problem can be seen in the attached Pic (sagetv client v6.jpg). The navigation buttons are not displaying corrrectly and appear as messy square boxes. Sometimes the OSD boxes are just blank. 6. Next stop the Google Video and go to "SageTV Recordings" The same problem can be seen in the in the title menu of the recorded show. See attached pic (sagetv client v6 recordings.jpg). If the show is played the OSD overlay looks just like it did when viewing the Google video, it shows messy squares. ***Steps to AVOID the problem. 1. Unload and reload STV Client ver6. 2. Click on "SageTV Recordings"(this must be done first thing). 3. Play any SageTV Recording (this must be done first thing). Notice the OSD overlay displayes correctly for recordings without messing up the video title. See attached pic (sagetv client v6 rec working.jpg) 4. Now repeat steps 1 - 5 above. Notice the OSD overlay now displayes correctly without messing up the navigation buttons. See attached pic (sagetv client v6 google vid working.jpg) Why first going to SageTV Recordings avoids the problem is odd. It shows that the Client is capable of working correctly with my hardware and software but there appears to be a bug in the Client v6 software. Note: If I disable 3D Acceleration it works with no problems. But the menu colors do not look as nice and colorful. *** Hardware and Software setup SageTV Client version 6.0.18.118 SageTV Server 6.0 running in service mode Video Card is a Nvidia GeForce FX 5700LE 256mb ram DirectX 9.0c Java version 1.5.0_06 3D Acceleration - Enabled Use of Full Screen Exclusive mode - No Overlay Color Keying - Enabled Mike

I submitted the above information to SageTV Support and they suggested trying SageTV ver 6.1.4 it made no difference. Later they suggested updating my video card driver, so I did.
Updating the Video Card Driver seems to have solved the problem. I can no longer replicate the problem as described above. Old driver ver 6.6.9.3 - release date 2004 by nvidia New driver ver 6.14.10.9371 - release date Oct 2006 by microsoft Thanks SageTV Support for your help and a great product. Mike
