SageTV 6 UI prob on Server but MVP UI fine

I was having system lockup problems on my server (unrelated to Sage) so I thought I would reformat my Hard Drive load Reload Windows XP Pro with all updates, load Mcafee and reload SageTV 6.0.19 and have a fresh systems. I’ve been a registered Sage User since Version 4. My old system was super stable until a bout a month ago when the lockup started when I ran other apps. I watch most of my shows using a MVP.

Now my server problems
1.) Sometime when I reboot Sage starts up in the configuration wizard.
2.) Some of the information in the UI is missing like where you add video, audio, picture directories it show nothing and it will not let me add a new one. I go to the MVP and the correct directories are there.
3.) When I try and add a favorite under the manage favorite it finds the show but does not add it to the list. If I try and add using the MVP works fine.
4.) Will not playback video on server get some kind of error but play on MVP.

Now for my license problem
When I purchased my Ver 4 license I also purchased a media extender license.
When I purchased my Ver 6 upgrade licenses I also purchased a Placeshifter license.
Here the issue when I first load Sage when prompted I entered my old ver 4 license no.
Then after going though the configuration wizard I exited and install my ver 4 extender license. When I started Sage it asked me to enter my upgrade license. It took it ok but it will not accept my placeshifter license. I’m not sure but I think the problem may be the name on the ver 4 licenses and the upgrade & placeshifter licenses don’t match exactly.
I have a shorten first name on the Ver 4 & Formal first name on the upgrade & Place shifter license. Not sure how to fix this.

Before I stated over I had a good ver 6 Sage server with working Media Extender and working Placeshifter. I reformatted twice with same kind of problems. The only think I can think of is I had all Microsoft updates installed be before I loaded Sage and maybe Sage does like one of the newer Microsoft updates???

SageTv server: Windows XP Pro, MSI K7N2GM-L, AMD Sempron 2400, 1gb ram,
ATI Radeon 9200 with 128mb Video, 200 GB boot drive w/OS, 2 - 250GB data drives, 1 ea of the Hauppauge WinTV-PVR-250 WinTV-PVR-150 WinTV-PVR-500

It sounds like it is having problems saving the configuration data, though I'm not sure why that would happen & yet the MVP seems to work fine. Are you running in service mode? If so, is there any sort of firewall preventing the UI from talking to the service?

Now for my license problem ...

It looks like you already know where to install the licenses, so for problems getting licenses installed & recognized, you should contact SageTV tech support. Oh -- if using service mode, did you stop the service before trying to add the extender or Placeshifter license?

I disable the firewall and turn SageTV service off.
No change.

Get rid of McAfee. Reinstall Sage and don't install Mcafee and see if you still have these issues.

This fixed my problem but I used my PC for other things besides Sage.
I feel I'm unprotected. What virus program do you recomend. Just for fun I tried to load McAfee and it comes back during install saying it could install.
So something between Sage and McAfee doesn't play well even though before all this started both where working fine. Thanks

I never installed McAfee Privacy Service to begin with been down that road.
What I loaded was just virus scan but it was off the McAfee Total Protection CD. I'm wondering if I load just VirusScan off the VirusScan Plus CD (I have both) if it will install?? Thanks

Don't load MacAfee at all, it's a resource hog. If you want a virus scanner I recommend Avast, it's free for home use and very good.

Well I was finally able to reload McAfee buy downloading and running there McAfee Consumer Products Removal tool (MCPR.exe). Restarted computer then reinstalled McAfee. Something must have been left in the Registery even after I unintalled it.

I'd still uninstall it and put something good on instead!
