Hey folks. Its been awhile since I posted here. Some of you may remember SageToiPod software I wrote a year or two ago. It evolved into iPodifier which has seen significant improvments over the last year.
iPodifier can be used automatically transcode video generated by SageTV (or most other DVR application) so it is compatible with the video iPod. While there are several programs out there that will take an mpg file and turn it into the mp4 or h264 format for the iPod, iPodifier takes it several steps further.
In addition to transcoding the video, iPodifier will add the video to iTunes into as the appropriate video type (i.e. TV, movie, music video). You can setup iPodifier to monitor your SageTV directories and automatically transcode any new video that appears. Also, you can select which shows are transcoded and sent to iTunes. You can setup quotas for each so (i.e. keep the 3 most recent Sponge Bob Squarepants on your iPod).
iPodifier was initially made to work with SageTV and still, SageTV is the best DVR app to use with iPodifier as it names its files showname - episode.mpg, and iPodifier uses this to get the showname and episode correct and meta tags the video using this.
Best of all, its free!
