Playback of MP4 files

My employer has a strict policy about installing anything on my work computer but I would like to be able to compress some short shows for lunchtime viewing. Now, I have WinDVD4 on my machine so I could just compress my shows to DVD level mpeg files and be done with it but I have found that IPod - High Quality is extremely good givien the amount of compression (I have taken and hour of HD video down to about 700MB) and I have very watchable files at USB thumb drive sizes. Problem is playback. I do have "Divx 2.0 Alpha" player on my machine and it will playback the file but without sound. I tried the mplayer included with Sage Placeshifter(run from my thumb drive) and playback is fine (with sound) but I have no transport controls. With Zoomplayer (also from my thumb drive), it will not playback anything. That seems strange. Either the proper codecs are registered or they are not. Is there a simple way to fix this other than installing Quicktime on my machine

Edit: I found the keys to allow for FFWD and REW in mplayer. Now is there any way to control aspect ratio?
