Hauppage Remote on Client

I have the Hauppage remote that came with the pvr-250 bundle. Since I am going to add a second card and run a client, I need to find a way to control the client. I am not using the 250 card in the client and therefore don't have the remote receiver plugged in to the client. I have a ir receiver connected to the serial port of the client instead. Do I still have to download girder and teach it all of the commands? What is the easiest way to do this. I am having a slow time with learning how to use girder, so any help would be appreciated.

As long as the IR receiver you have on the client is supported by Sage TV, you can just go into Detailed Setup on the client and then teach the IR commands to Sage Client very easily.

Thanks but for some reason nothing happens when I try to map the keys on the remote. I see the IR light blink on the receiver but Sage doesn't do anything. I've tried all of the baud rates to no avail. Also, when I start up girder, I can see that it reads the signal from the generic serial ir receiver plug-in. I'm new at this but everything up to this has been a lot easier.

Sage is not going to support any generic serial IP. It support IRman from Evation, Actisys IR-200L and the USB-UIRT (USB not serial). That is what Sage will support. Now you can probably use Girder to work with your IR receiver and get it to control Sage. But that's a whole 'nother story.
