FSE is still not releasing properly with this beta. The steps from this post still illustrate the issue.

Are you using NVidia for your display?

I was having many issues with this using nvidia drivers.

It has been working much better for me with this release, actually since version 6 was released.

I have the the nvidia drivers can really be sketchy and scre things up if I change them.

What software/firmware are you running on your machine & HDHR? They have fixed a few issues with Sage & recordings in the last release, so that may also fix the problem you're having.

For what it's worth, I was having a very similar problem to yours with recordings from my Firewire HD tuner, bad enough that I ended up just taking it off the server for now. Pretty much anything recorded on it was unwatchable, no stream fixing software would touch them, and it was just too much of a hassle...

I will debug this more tomorrow (sick kid tonight....) but it is starting to look to me like a HDHR issue or maybe something specific to Sage and the HDHR.

I'm running the latest beta code and firmware from the SiliconDust site. (The one that fixes the "missing 5 minutes" problem.) I'm running the latest beta from Sage.

Once my son is feeling better I will debug further. I'm not sure how to isolate this to a Sage problem of a SiliconDust problem. Is there a way using VLC (or another app) to capture and save the transport stream from ther HDHR? If I capture a stream using something other than Sage and it is corrupted, that pretty much tells me it is the HDHR. If it is clean and the Sage recordings are corrupted, that is probably a Sage problem.

Here's another little glitch. The Media Centre menu seems to have an extra menu item at the bottom (see attached). Who knows, maybe I'm missing a earth shattering feature down there.

Because you have "Arcade Games" on there you're missing the world famous "Back to Main Menu" selection.

Is anyone having an issue recording digital OTA? I have four HD tuners (two Fusion Gold USB2 and one HDHR). Since upgrading to the beta nothing has recorded on the HD tuners (four days now of my wife being extremely upset at missing Heros, 24, American Idol, etc). It says it's recording, but the entire playback bar is red and the size shows as 0.0GB. If I select a show in the guide it tunes it using one of my HD tuners just fine (although it does take about 5 seconds to start). If I start watching a show as it is "recording" it tunes to the channel and starts recording (but up to that point nothing has recorded). We are frantically adding season passes back to the Tivo. Thanks.

Update -- So I removed all tuners from Sage, restarted, and added them back in. Channel scan picks up all of my locals. When I try to tune to a channel it now says "No Signal". I know it works because the feed is split to my HD Tivo and I'm getting a signal there.

What about all the issues a lot of people have been having with version 6 trying to use VMR9 (which doesn't work) vs Overlay (which does work but no on screen transparencies)?

Didn't see any mention of this in the log.

Also, what about the issue where you set the option to Always Ask to Delete at the end of each show, but it doesn't if another scheduled recording happens to be in live tv buffer.

If this is on your HDHomeRun, you might want to go through the process of scanning for channels with VLC again as if it was a new setup. My cable company (BrightHouse) and a few others (I believe) have a habit of changing the channel numbers for QAM.

EDIT: Just reread and saw you were refering to OTA, so ignore me. Its still early in the am.

Yeah.... I'm using OTA. I can scan for channels (and it finds them) using my Fusion Gold USB's, but not the HDHR (it doesn't go past channel 0 and then quits). I can view the channels via the HDHR app and VLC. I'm going to downgrade to the prior version tonight. For the first time in 4 years Sage is actually off because it's pointless to have it running.

VMR9 works fine for me, on 3 PC clients. No problems at all (VMR9, FSE on). If I recall correctly, Overlay doesn't do transparencies either. If VMR9 isn't working, I'd look to hardware/OS/drivers/codec. I'd say most people have it running (although I'm not going to say that it's not something in the core system, but it works for me, ymmv).

As for the other issue, I believe you were told it wasn't an issue per-se, but as-designed behavior. I also seem to remember that Narflex said submit a bug report on it and they'd look at possibly adding the functionality you're looking for.

VMR9 works fine for me and many many others.

The second thing you refer to makes sense because, even if it's a scheduled recording, if it's also live TV, it should be deleted as per the live TV delete schedule, and not prompt you at the end of the show. Other live TV shows don't ask you to delete at the end so that shouldn't be any different.

I actually restored the release version during lunch and it appears all is well. I think I'll wait until the next non-beta release since the WAF is nearing zero again.

And if you look at the number of threads about VMR9 and version 6, you will see a lot of people have problems as well.

I am NOT talking about live TV. This is a case where there are two favorites scheduled back to back. Viewing is also started from the RECORDINGS in menu, not live TV. I have submitted a bug report.

Well, things were beautifully transparent for me with Overlay all the way up until v6.1.3. I can see no good reason why now they put those solid-blue buttons in the main menu.. it drives me insane.

Well they changed something with the rendering of those buttons, because in VMR9 mode they look a lot nicer now. Not sure how exactly, just a bit more polished, maybe more 3Dish? I don't know but whatever change they made it looks good, maybe the effect they achieved couldn't be done without these new solid images.

I don't think that's the case, because the rest of the menus are still transparent in overlay, like they were before. Only the "options" (Ctrl-O) menu got screwed, probably by some mistake.
