sage.PlaybackException: Error What am I doing wrong?

I'm trying to get the trail version 6 working, before jumping ship from my previous PVR software. But having a little codec issue.

I am running a PVR150 and PVR250. I can get sage working fine using the default codecs and rederers, but the image quality is rather average. I have installed the NV codec, and tried selecting it. But every time I change any of the renderers or decoders from their default settings I get a black screen and the following message.

"There was a Playback Error in playback. Details:
sage.PlaybackException: Error (-4,0
x8004022f): There was a problem rendering the
video portion of the content for playback."

Now this is a fresh install of winxp, no other software loaded.

I have searched the forums also, with no answers.

Any idea what I am doing wrong? Or what I can try?

I am using an ATI 9700pro card btw.

Also, how do I get the transparency working in the guide?

Cheers
Jamie

Have you made sure to update to the latest DirectX and/or video card drivers? What video renderer are you trying to use?

And, what transparency in the guide do you mean? If you want to have the video playing as the background, then use the Options command and change the Video Menu Options.

Hi Andy,

I just reinstalled the pvr150/250 drivers, this has given me the intervideo codec that works ok. It might be the nv codec has a problem. I'll check it with something else

I don't have the latest video drivers either. Although I have kept with these ones has they have been ok so far. I'll update them just in case.

The transparency I mean is with video playing in the background. Or the popup info on the TV screen. Both of these are working now, after I reinstalled the pvr drivers.

All I want is to run in overlay mode with the nv codec. This has given me the best results in the past, at least using BTV.......

I'll do all the above first.

Cheers

If you want to have pseudo-transparency while using overlay as the renderer, then disable 3D Acceleration & enable Overlay Color Keying - both found in Detailed Setup -> Advanced. I think those are the only settings needed. Edit: Oh, I think you might have said this part is already working...
