HD Homerun

I just purchaed an HDHomeRun through 9thtee.com. It should be delivered in a few days. Waiting with baited breath....

Question: Does the HDHomeRun tune only HD channels, or will it also tune other "digital cable" channels?

It will tune ATSC and/or unencrypted qam channels, HD and SD. I'm using it to tune qam channels. I get about 4 HD and 23 SD channels this way.

Excellent, excellent, EXCELLENT...that's what I wanted to hear!

The reason I asked is that one of my 2 PVR-150 tuners is connected to a digital STB, and though I am able to get all of the subscribed digital channels with it, it would be nice if the HDHR could also tune some of the digital SD channels.

What got me thinking about this is that a friend of mine just purchased a new plasma HDTV that has a digital tuner (unlike my "tunerless" Westinghouse W4207 HD monitor.) When he first plugged it in, it gave him a message, "Setting up programming...please wait about 20 minutes." After if finished, he suddenly had access to all the normal analog cable channels, the standard SD digital channels (non-premium, of course) and several HD channels (again, non-premium.) My line of thinking is that if I can also get some of the digital SD channels in addition to the HD chennels, I could save the cost of an additional STB.

I guess it will all become clear when I install it....
