I quit!

Let me say I prefer Sage to my MCE for more than several reasons. But I am switching back to MCE today. I have 2 Motorola STB's and I just cant control them with Sage. I have tried all sorts of ways (spending money and countless hours) and maybe I am stupid but I cant get reliable and responsive channel changing. I guess I will just keep monitoring the site and hope for Cablecard capability. Ok, I got it off my chest.

Did you ever try contacting support? They're usually fairly helpful getting Sage up and running...

Well, if this isn't troll bait, then you might want to consider letting the wonderful people here in the SageTV forums help you out.

You haven't once posted asking for any assistance, other than finding a file.

How are you trying to control the boxes. I'm sure there are more than just one person trying to control a Motorola STB, I'm using two QIP2500-1's from Version via IR blasters, and am having no problems at all. Took a while to get setup, but now it works fine.

Just a guess, but I'd say you're using a blaster to control the STB's. Do your boxes have serial ports, and if so are they enabled? I get perfect channel changes via serial port on my 2 STB's, never misses, and if it does, it keeps trying until it gets it right (it can read the current channel I'm guessing, and if the STB is turned off it'll even turn it on).

Are you using exetuner. It's honestly the best way

http://forums.sagetv.com/forums/show...light=exetuner

First off just install the drivers and see if you can open a dos box and use channel.exe to change channel. After that it's just a registry hack and it works absolutely seemlessly. It's about the only thing that I've not had trouble getting working in sage.

I feel you pain though. I've nearly given up myself a couple of times.

post your system info - specially how you are trying to control those STBs.

This is a great community and people will help you out!

I can understand your frustration- I had similar experiences with Direct TV STBs....tell us something more about your system and you'll get some constructive feedback.

Good Luck!
