StreamZap and SageTV

How do I get it so that streamzap remote only affects sage Tv and nothing else. When someone is on the computer while im watching TV, sometimes the remote opens a menu on her screen while it doesnt absolutely nothing on my screen.

Im sure there is something easy that i am missing.

The default software of the Streamzap cannot do anything else that sending keyboard shortcuts and for this SageTV needs to be in focus.

If you want to fully customize your Streamzap you'll need a third party software (like Girder, Event Ghost, HIP or my software => see my signature).

Now if you want to try my software, just install it and you have basically two choices:

* create a profile for SageTV and use the "SendMessage" action to send messages that SageTV understand (you'll have to look in the SageTV documentation to find what messages you'll have to send)
* create a profile for SageTV and use "Keystrokes" actions and or "AppCommand"

In both case, you'll need to force the SageTV profile by using a "ChangeProfile" action (to the SageTV profile) for the button you'll use to launch SageTV. This way the remote will know you'll want to use exclusively SageTV with the remote. It is also a good thing to use the "ChangeProfile" action on the button you'll use to close SageTV to restore the remote to the default profile.

Regards,
Stéphane.

mroe on this

do you or anyone have some sort of set up for all the streamzap. buttons? It sounds like i will need to set up every single button (including the numbers and menu, etc etc).

That is annoying.. does no one else have this issue with a cool fix. I'll check out your software to see if its something I can do. It seems that sage should provide a way to do this. Why would I want this remote to do anything but use the sage software?

Yes you'll have to customize most of the buttons. With my software you can download profiles submitted by other users (you have to make a donation for using this feature).

SageTV already provide a way to do this: it respond to messages without needing focus (you can't totally do this with BTV for instance), so it's more the responsibility of the remote software to know how to interact with SageTV or other applications. So you need to use an alternative software for your Streamzap remote to be able to do what you want (added benefit : you'll be able to choose what each buttons will do).

It's not that difficult with my software to create a profile. Take time to read the "How to" guide on my web site then try with a few buttons first and when you'll be more confortable with it you can do all the buttons (you just need to read the SageTV manual to know the messages SageTV is waiting for). It should not take you more than 30min to configure properly your remote. Moreover if my software is not running, you will return to the default streamzap behavior, so it is really easy to try it for a few minutes and then simply closing it, no need to uninstall, reinstall etc...

And if you have any questions, you can always come here for some help.

Regards,
Stéphane.
