Intel Onboard Graphics - Image Quality?
I'm quite taken with this system as a client:
http://www.higrade.com/nqcontent.cfm?a_id=3372 However, it isn't using nVidia or ATI's chipsets for graphics - instead it's the "Integrated Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 900" from the Intel 945GM/ ICH7-M chipset. Does anyone know how good this is at deinterlacing and upscaling and generally making any content look as good as possible on a 1080p monitor?

Apparently it's the GMA 950 - and prediuctably the only reviews online sem to focus on games.
Anyway, the system I linked to above is no good as it requires an external IR receiver.

The mac mini uses the GMA950 chipset too, and with the core 2 CPU's it seems to do fine playing back MPEG2 HD. No reports yet of h.264 support, but it seems to be competant at HD.
Not the GMA900 was not nearly as good so make sure you avoid that. thanks, mike |

I have GMA900 in my SD Client, does a perfectly good job (as good as the Nvidia I used previously).

Keep in mind that smooth playback and PQ are two completely different things. What some people find acceptable others wouldn't be satisfied with. I'm not saying these boards are bad. I'm just pointing out that PQ is a highly subjective topic.

Yeah, and keep in mind that the Earth is round, and that bears sh*t in the woods...
