Channel re-mapping in which versions?

I have recently moved home to Guam where although our local cable says it's EPG is from Zap2It, our zip codes locate nothing on the Zap2It website.

So I plan to select a zip code in Calif where the shows are actually recorded before being sent via undersea fiber to Guam where it is time-shifted to match local time. I will then set my Windoze location to what ever it takes to sync the local times to the EPG.

But I will need to remap my local channels to match the channels on the EPG.

I see that V6 can do this, can any of the older versions?

I am currently running V2.something and it has worked just great for years. The only reason I would change it for channel re-mapping.

Thanks in advance!

I'm a bit confused by your phrasing so just to clarify, IIUC an example would be...

according to the EPG you've downloaded, Discovery channel is channel 30 but you have to tune to channel 45 to watch it. So sage tunes to the wrong channel when you try to record.

You can go into setup sources and scroll down the channel lineup to channel 30: Discovery. Then you click on remap and tell the EPG that the channel is actually 45. Now when you try and watch or record, sage knows that the channel is 45 and tunes accordingly/sends the right signal to the cable box.

This works on Version 4 and 5 to my knowledge but version 4 is a buggy pile of rabid dingos kidneys IMHO. I use version 5. You can use either without paying an upgrade fee.

Exactly, I asked SageTV support and they responded in a day with the same info. Now I have to build the re-map matrix and implement it.

Thanks for the reply.

Success

I set my location to the ZIP code for San Luis Obispo Calif and then remapped all the channels to match the local cable lineup.

Then I set the time on my PC to match the current local time but minus one day since Guam is on the other side of the date line.

Everything worked just fine till my auto time setting software kicked in and reset the time. I disabled that and SageTVs time sync and all is well.

I will be repeating the exercise this weekend as some of the local channels are not on the San Luis Obispo cable system, so I will set it up for Lompoc, Calif instead.

I am running SageTV V3 and the remapping was per the book.
