AC3 vs Purevideo

Hello,
I have been using SageTV for a while now and am going to be reloading my HTPC tomorrow (too much playing with different programs).

When I reload it I want to do it right the first time this time.

Do you recommend AC3 (updating it from the ac3 website) or Nvidia's Purevideo. Why do you recommend one vs the other?

NOTE: I am thinking mostly for watching DVD's with Dolby Digital DTS 5.1 through SPDIF with my Pioneer receiver.

Thank you for your suggestions and ideas.

Underfunded.

For what? AC3Filter is an audio decoder, nVidia's PureVideo decoder is both an audio and video decoder, they are not mutually exclusive, nor can AC3Filter completely replace the PureVideo decoder.

For passthrough, there won't be any quality difference between them, audio wise. However you're still going to need a video decoder for DVDs.
