overlay - white flashes , flickering ui

Hi,

i have a strange problem with the client on the server. The menues are flickering and sometimes randomly white flashes occur. it is happening in window mode and full screen. i have that problem only with sagetv. it occurs in overlay and vmr9 mode. in other programs using overlay on this system its till now not happening.

here are some specs

win xp sp2 with directx 9c december update
ati x1600pro
2gig
core 2 duo 6300
a bunch of harddisks

any suggestions ?
