Problem entering WEP with remote for extender
This may sound really stupid, but I can't seem to get the remote to enter alpha characters for my WEP key. If I push the button for "7", it puts in "7". Multiple presses don't show the letters associated with the button. I also noticed a button labeled text. I've tried holding that button while I press the "7" key, and tried using it like a shift key. Still no alpha characters. Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong, or might I have a defective remote. I just got this media extender, and it has the new style Hauppauge remote. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Have an answer to this one
Although the Belkin router setup of the WEP key allows 8-64 positions of any type to be entered, ie, "my dog is stupid", the MediaMPV allows only hex entries that include only alpha of A-F. Using an all numeric WEP key of only 10 digits got past this.

I had the same problem... This is from an email from Hauppauge. You can only enter Hexadecimal keys in 64 or 128bit encryption. If you use an ASCII format (words) use a Wep key generator to convert it to hex format. Here is a page that can help you http://www.andrewscompanies.com/tools/wep.asp This will convert your phrase in 64 bit, lets say security phrase in to 736563757269747920706872617365 Do not worry, there are no alpha characters in this example, the first entry is always a number. After that just push the keypad number to scroll through the options. Robert |

Thanks
It was easier to change the WEP key to all numerics. Still can't get an IP address for the Media MVP. This is on another forum discussion. Got some answers, but none that solve the problem.
