AiringID and FavoriteID Questions

I"m trying to figure out the "logic" (if there is any) behind airing id's and favorite id numbers.

I'm trying to create the "perfect" sage client through meedio using neilm's webserver and am hungup and getting the EPG short of rewriting a whole new epg plugin.

If I could figure out the logic behind how Sage creates AiringID's, then I could use a normal XMLTV import to get the epg and create airingID's on the fly.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

As far as I know, there's no "logic" to AiringIDs is the sense of being derived by calculation from something else. They're just arbitrary numbers assigned by the wiz.bin database manager. So in principle any number would work, provided it's not already in use by some existing Airing.

Pardon my ignorance, but isn't that what the webserver is for? I don't have any hands-on experience with it personally, so I'm not real familiar with its exact capabilities.

Failing that, you could certainly do something like what the web server does, i.e. write a Java plugin that runs inside Sage and listens for DB queries on a TCP socket or something.

If you're asking how to access the DB when Sage isn't running, I don't think there's a way to do that.
