playing full length VOB files in SageTV 6?

So i've decided to try the jukebox DVD server and i'm coming to find out sagetv can't pay full size vob files (where the movie is all in one file)?

the first par of the movie pays fine.. but once i try to move to the middle the payer just stops.

anyone know how to get sagetv to work with large VOB files?

i've verified the VOBs are valid by playing them in PowerDVD

well i tried just to rename the VOB file and now i lose the ability to seek altogether..

anyone have any good way for importing DVDs into a single VOB or MP2 file, or at least a way that sagetv can deal with?

Just leave the whole DVD structure intact. Sage plays those fine. If you want just the main movie, there are tools that can do that and retain a DVD compliant structure.

the issue is that i would have to rip the DVD twice..

the PSPVideo9 can't handle multiple files (since sagetv wont' convert DVD to PSP)...

i just find it very odd that sagetv (an HTPC frontend) can't handle single VoB files...

I think there are (or used to be at least) a number of players that don't like VOBs > 1GB (which I believe is the maximum VOB size defined by the DVD spec).

I take the VOB file and run it through video redo with the quickstream fix..seems to fix all timeline problems and they play fine after that.

thanks gary, that looks like a great piece of software (is it worth it for 50$?)..

i've been hoping to find a good editor for editing some movies for other reasons..

I asked the same question before I bought it. I went through all the "freeware" and tried piecing things together...It was way too much work.. Video redo works great. and since I have found out how to do batch processing and figured out how to bring in comskip files, it has gotten even easier...so, yes, I believe it is well worth it.

I was worried when I got an HD tuner that it might have problems, but it worked those HD files just the same..And anytime I've recorded something and had a timeline problem for whatever resaon...Quickstream solves it.

One other thing I liked.. I've had a "blip" or 2 once in a while with Sage (not often, and probably my fault) and the recording of a show will be divided into 2 files. Video redo works great in putting them back together as one file and then removing the commercials..
