Ripped DVD cut off

I've just upgraded to v6 and am trying to watch a DVD I just ripped. Because they're both new, I'm not sure if this problem is due to 6.0 (vs 2.2.8) or the new DVD, but:

The trailers for other movies are fine, but the menu and the actual movie is getting cut off--as though it thinks it's 16x9. Even if I take Sage out of full screen mode and drag the window wider, it doesn't help--the entire (partial) picture is contained in a 4x3 frame--surrounded by black (like backwards letterboxing) and I just can't get the whole picture.

What makes it weirder is that this exact DVD plays just fine (from within Sage) on my laptop--which has a 4x3 screen.

Has anyone seen anything like this??

Thanks,
David

I'm having a hard time picturing what's happenning. Are you saying there's black on all sides? A screenshot would help

What's the Aspect Ratio of your display?
What's the resolution you're running?
Have you adjusted the Display Aspect Ratio option in detailed setup to match your display's Aspect Ratio?
What Aspect Ratio in Sage are you using? What are it's settings?

I'll answer what I can now--and check the rest. Thanks again.

The primary display is a TV--and it's set to 800x600 on the video card. The (secondary) "real" monitor is either 800x600 or 1024x768--I'll need to check.

I'll double-check the aspect ratio settings. I've been using "source," but I've tried everything else, too. I'll also check the setting in "detailed setup"

re the black on all sides--yes--it's on all sides. It's like a little video window in the center of an otherwise black screen.

I've now realized it's all the DVD--the menus, scene selections, etc, are all doing this.

I'll get back to you on the other info--and try to get a screen shot.

Thanks!

I checked the Display Aspect Ratio option--it had been "Source." I tried "Full," and "4x3" (which matches my display) and got the same results every time.

I finally changed the DVD video renderer from Cyberlink (which has always worked fine for me) to NVidia, and now at least nothing gets cut off. Those screens show up as letterboxed 16x9, so all I lose is a little size. One of my other clients (also using NVidia) shows it as 4x3 full screen and the other was already showing it as letterboxed 16x9. I wouldn't think much of it, but it's a lot of DVDs--and even the main menu of 4x3 DVDs--which I know fit fine on the 4x3 screen before. It's almost as if something is automatically (and incorrectly) selecting the 16x9 aspect ratio from the DVD--is such a thing possible?

At least it's now moved from "crisis" to "inexplicable, minor annoyance."

Thanks for any other thoughts you might have.

That's the playback AR, there's a separate setting for Display Aspect Ratio.

Not sure, double check your playback AR setting (probably should be source) and doublecheck it's zoom settings.
