Any way to exetuner to change channels on a network encoder?
Still battling the channel changing on my r5000hd-modified cable box. I am now trying to get Sagetv to change the channels via an IR blaster. However, when setting up the video source, it does not allow me to control an IR blaster, because it is a network encoder (even though the cable box is hooked up to the Sage computer). Is there a way to "trick" Sage into controlling the box with the IR blaster?
I have also tried using sgraphrecorder to change channels. Basically by listening on the same port, it can change channels via Girder and USB-UIRT. However, it seems to block communication between sage and the r5000 software. My guess is that no more than 2 devices can communicate over a single network port?

Something that I would be interested in as well.
Deciding between the Sage Recorder and Univeresal Network encoder and getting a new Sage copy and using network encoder as true. Anyone with experience with one or the other care to elaborate? I'm using the D11-100 direct TV receivers- so serial port limitation is forcing me to consider this alternative. Along the same lines- is there any way to have recordings to the local drive rather than over the network? Also, can a copy of SageTV media center be used as a SageTV Client? Thanks in advance! |

I don't think so because it's the encoder responsibility to tune (and as such to control the blaster)

I don't know what you have setup in the .ini file but the ExeTuner should look something like this [ExeTuner] UseExeTuner=1 ExeTunerPath=(the path of the program you are using to send the IR codes which in your case would be the path to Girder) The way it works is when you change the channel in Sage the SGR will send the number(s) entered to whatever program you put in the path. Therefore the program you are using has be to able to accept whatever SGR is sending it. I use HipwSend and had to store and configure the IR codes and blaster in that program. Ultimately once HipwSend receives the number(s) from SGR it will then sends the corresponding IR buttons through your IR Blaster. I have never used Girder but I believe I have read it works the same way. I hope this was of some help. |

Thanks for the input. So, how would I set up ExeTuner and HipwSend to work with SgraphRecorder? I have tried Girder, and it’s not working for me, and it’s expensive.
Forgot to mention… I’m using the USB-UIRT to control my sat tuner. |

Ok. I’ll give that a try. Do I have to install the ExeTuner plugin , or do I just need to enable it (i.e. set UseExeTuner=1) in SGR and set the path to HipSend?

Just enable it. There are no plugins required just that line and the path to the application sending the IR.

Can you send me the path string you have for Hip in your “ExeTunerPath”?

ExeTunerPath=C:\Program Files\HIP\hipwsend.exe

I'm still having trouble getting this to work. I've installed "HipInstallComplete_30212" and configured the USB-UIRT to send codes. I test the codes and the UIRT sends the codes. I installed HipWsend and ran it to test sending codes, but no go. I send a "command" of "1" or "#1" or "202" and the UIRT does not fire. I guess I don't understand the whole setup procedure. Do I have to do anything else in the HIP programming window?
