setting brightness for each source?

Can't figure out how to modify brightness for a connected tuner.
Just playing around with HD HomeRun and picture playing on
server pc (watching TV) is VERY dim.
desktop is fine
sagetv menus are fine
but playing TV isvery dim.
Found reference to "color calibration" in forum's messages but not where it is.

Thanks for the help!
Ray

I guess I could watch full screen and adjust monitor's brightness
but I was hoping to just have a small window on my desktop.

The place to do it is Source Setup, Capture Color Calibration, however...

You're not going to be able to do it (nor would you want to*) on the HD HR or any other HD/digital tuner, because these don't record video they capture bitsreams.

*You wouldn't want to change these because these are by nature correct when recorded. With analog tuners there can be variation from card to card, source to source, and the levels can easilly (and often are) inconsistent.

Digital sources are, by nature, always the correct levels and shouldn't require adjustment.

I don't know about the "very" part, but you might need to calibrate your TV:

Actually even in setup of HDHomeRun using
their config (GUI) and VLC media player
it is VERY low brightness.
It is beginning to look like hardware problem with HDHomeRun.

Also interesting is cpu usage with HDHomeRun.

IF I use VLC media player in config GUI CPU usage is about 30%
when watching HD channel.

Watching same channel in Sagetv I get 98% usage and stuttering in full screen. I tried using nvidia's pure video, which is suppose to use video's
hardware for much of the decoding, but no change in CPU usage.

Fixed brightness problem:
Nvidia control panel/video & television/adjust color setting/
brightness & contrast where all the way down

Now if I can figure out why Sagetv cpu usage is around 95%
compared to VLC media player at 30%

both software codec
tried nvidia pure video codec for my 6800gt board but no change in usage.

Help!

Thanks,
Ray
