MyHD Card

I'm looking into adding HD into my PVR. I'm not sure what the best card is, what do you guys think of the MyHD MDP-130 .

Problems? Ease of use?

Is it a dual HD tuner card? i see two inputs.

Is there a better card that I should get. I'm interested in over the air and QAM, although I don't know how well that will work with COX.

Any help appreciated!

Can't be used directly in SageTV. Can't be used for SageTV output at all. I wouldn't get one if you're planning on using it with Sage.

No, single tuner, you can hook up two sources but can only use one at a time.

If you want dual-tuner and/or QAM (cable), I think the consensus is the HD HomeRun is the way to go. If you only need a single tuner and OTA is fine, I'd take a look at the Vbox DTA-150. I just got one and I'm quite happy so far.

Stranger,

Is the Vbox DTA-150 directly supported by SageTV?

Was it easy to configure?

Does it support QAM as well as Over the Air?

I found it online for $70, which to me seem's to be a very good price.

Yup.

Plug it in, install the drivers, start Sage, set it up as a source. Pretty easy.

No, if you need QAM your only options are the HD Homerun or the Onair GT, and for the price of the single tuner Onair, you might as well get the dual tuner HDHR.

If a single OTA tuner works for you (like me) then yeah, it's a great price.

Stanger,

Based on my configuration, do you think it is powerful enough to playback HD?

Should be, I'm pretty sure I've done it on a P4 2.4 with a 6800.

You can use the MyHD card as a recording HDTV tuner via the MyHD Encoder: http://forums.sagetv.com/forums/showthread.php?t=13798

That's great if you've already got a MyHD and want to put it to use in Sage, but IMO it doesn't make much sense to go out and get one, specifically to use in Sage, especially when it's not directly supported and you can't make use of it's playback features.

Thanks, I think I'll go with the Vbox DTA-150, and eventually if Cox supports QAM and there are more HD channels, I'll get something that supports QAM.

I agree, although I am close to disabling my HD Home Run due to Sage's troubles playing back its recordings. Unfortunately, there are tradeoffs.

You're having trouble playing back HDHR or MyHD files? I haven't had any problem playing back HDHR files, but I have had some FF/REW issues playing back MyHD files. I've disabled the MyHD after getting the HDHR.

BTW, I wish that Sage files would play using the MyHD.

Is there a thread on that (so that things are not re-hashed)?

The only thing I can say is I tried switching to TS (or is it TP?) files, and Sage didn't like that as well as MPG.
