SageTV 6.1?

Anyone has any idea when 6.1 might be out?

They're talking about it being out before 6.2.

Wow, it took less than a month for this question to appear. I wonder if that is some sort of record...

6.2. ?
So do you mean, 6th of February, or 2nd of June?

Marneb

P.S.: Just in case that didn't appear funny to you, in Europe the date is written with a dot in between and in most countries with dd.mm.yyyy , not your strange style...

I think they'll skip to 8.0, just so they can hear everyone whine about having to shell out another $30 for an upgrade

But we say the month before the day, therefore abreviating it dd.mm.yy seems rather backwards!

I think the r5000 users really, REALLY, REALLY want an update for hdtv, h.264 support.

You do everything wrong, from dates, spelling, driving on the wrong side... the list is never ending.....

(but I can't think of any more off the top of my head)

Actually neither side is correct. It should be in a proper sorting sequence of yyyy.mm.dd

But dd.mm.yyyy is proper (ascending).

Well, the h.264 support is kind of here even now, only it sux because they ship SageTV bundled with a really old version of MPlayer. The "new" h.264 support will probably amount to Sage packing a more recent version of MPlayer in their install. That still will be something, and I really REALLY want it!

And thinking about it, since MPlayer is a piece of software developed independently of Sage, we Sage users should be able to update the MPlayer opurselves, as new and improved versions of it become available. Right now we can't do that for some reason: attempt to replace MPlayer (aka: SageTVPlayer.exe) with a newer version crashes Sage, and that totally drives me insane.

Exactly. The version of Mplayer SageTV currently uses is broken in regards to H.264. 1080p videos stutter no matter what the CPU utilization is, where as the newest version of Mplayer plays them just fine (with lower CPU utilization to boot). At this point, I'll take even that. But hardware acceleration through DShow filter would be more prefereable.

Anyways, that's the only reason I asked about 6.1. Sorry to have offended anyone

You know, I really wonder why the Sage people are keeping total silence on this particular subject. It's ridiculous! Almost makes me regret that I renewed my SageTV licenses.

They are always publicly silent about everything

They probably have to merge their changes to Mplayer to the most recent version and retest. This is probably not a trivial task, especially the retesting bit! (Support for Sage's client/server API and possibly for VMR9 were added to Mplayer by Sage)

Well that's what I am afraid of. Sage adding their own stuff to MPlayer outside the MPlayer official development is not a clean way to go. If they did this together with the MPlayer dev team, which they clearly could, then that API would be documented forever, and future versions of MPlayer would not break Sage.

Actually, this is not so remote.
Think about it. We have seen a new logo, meaning most likely a redesigned interface and an HD Extender to be out by 2nd quarter so by June-Luly V7 or 8 should be out.

In the meantime, around March we should have 6.1......
