S-Video to Component

Is there a cable that has S-Video on one end and component out on the other? Any simple way to convert from one format to the other?

I have a projector that takes component in and I would like to hook it up to my PC which has a video card with S-Video out. I know that I will lose picture quality, but for now, just want to connect the two.

That should work if your video card supports it. At the very least, the output on the video card should have 7 holes and not just the 4 used by s-video, and probably match the models listed on the page you mentioned.

I believe to convert from s-video to component would require upscaling which is using found only on more expensive AV receivers and dedicated scaling boxes. All of which are more expensive than buying an inexpensive video card that supports component output.

I am pretty sure that cable will NOT convert s-video to component. Some video cards have component out, but they use a 7 pin DIN connector that is similar to an S-video connector. As the page of your link states, be sure to check the manual for your video card.

I would suggest the SigmaDesign Xcard- but it may be a bit too much of an overkill both in terms of what you want to achieve as well in terms of involved costs. Also- I think it ends up displaying only the video and no UI.

If you decide to go that route though- there is a wonderful plugin for sage for the Xcard (have used it in the past- stopped now due to conflicts of Xcard/nforce drivers/ RAID cards on the server). This plugin allows the SageUI to be displayed via the Xcard output though!
