Audio very loud when converting Sage files to DVD's

I am using Nero 7 to convert Sage files to archive on DVD. Video and menus, etc all work just fine. However, the audio is REALLY LOUD after converting to dvd format.

Has anyone had any experience with this? Is it a problem of Nero, or does it have something to do with the Sage / Hauppauge combo, aka is the audio already corrupted before Nero deals with it?

I am trying to avoid having to fuss with every single file by editing them all manually (aka volume guest-i-mations).

Thanks

That's most likely a nero issue. Look though nero's audio settings and see if there is anything in there about automatic volume or gain control.

there are a couple of things, one is smartencoding, but that seems to refer to compression if a file exceeds a file limit size (but this is hard to determine), as well, there is a setting for audio, either "automatic" or "AC3 5.1", which I left 'automatic" selected, as most of the recordings the hauppauge makes are usually not 5.1, are they?
thanks

I find that Sage records at a higher level then typical DVDs are set to.
Back when I was archiving my recordings to DVD I had to lower the volume on my STBs. I used to demux the audio and video and place them on DVD without any encoding or audio gain and still found them to be louder then normal DVDs by a decent margin. All my tuners were hooked up to STBs though. So if you use the TVtuner on your tuner(s) then I think you'll need to edit the properties file or registry to lower the recording volume.

Try THIS thread to make the registry changes.

Hope this helps.
