Serial control question with DIRECTV

Board,

I have an old version of Sage (v2) and currently use a USB IRT to control my d10-100 receiver. The loop is a little slow on changing channels, take several seconds, because the remote send singal to blaster, which sends it to stb. I would like to go with serial control, is it much faster. So I can not just press up or down on the remote and the channel changing keeps up.

I am going to buy a LCD from amazon and would like to throw in a new stb if I can get faster changing of channels using a serial connection with my computer. I am looking at a DIRECTV D-11 / D-11 Digital Satellite Receiver.

Thansk for your advice
Rusty

Why don't you just serial control your D10-100?

I remember reading here some time ago that the serial port is not active on this unit. It would be great if it was. Is there a way to test it?

THanks Rusty
