Need help how to fix Sage Recorder mpeg2 file to work with Movie Factory 2 version?

Hi everyone,

I have frequently encountered this problem. I have recorded several times the same movie through Sage Recorder with a different file name.
But I was unable to load them with Movie Factory 2, it just hangs the application. And the worst, it just happens to this one and not the others. Something Sage Recorder writes in the mpeg2 stream that prevents Movie Factory 2 to load?
I downloaded a trial version of M-Edit and used it to load the Sage Recorder mpeg file, it spots some bad frames and marked
them to red color. I just want to know in which situations this happens and how to avoid it? Or better any idea how to convert
this file to work with Movie Factory 2?

I've had similar problems recently...
I've been unable to open or edit the mpeg2 files that sage recorder is creating.
I have discovered however that if you can manage to author them as VOB files, you can then easily and quickly edit them with a freeware program called DVDShrink.
DVDShrink will then re-author them and presto you can burn them to DVD.
I've been having great success with this method to capture from my VCR and turn my old tv series tapes into DVDs with nice menus.
I know this doesn't completely address the problem, but I was unable so far to get an answer for this on this forum and maybe it will help you at least use the files you've created in the meantime!

Hi,

No can do. Vob file has audio/video out of sync so cutting can be done. I was aware of Dvdshrink but never thought of doing it like you suggested.

Tafguy what settings are using for recording ??? I used to have audio sync problems until I started recording in one of the DVD compliant streams. Now I use DVD Long Play to record and can edit any of my files.

I used the DVD long play , the middle one since I want 2 hours video on a DVD.
The bit rate should be about 4.8 Mbit/seconds when you look at the mpeg file using
tmpgenc. The others are 3 Mbits/seconds and 6 Mbits/seconds. One is too low for recording
scene with a lot of motion, and the higher one takes too much disk space and have less time
on the DVD. I would prefer Sage to have like 3.5 Mbits and 5.3 Mbits/secs .

Version used is the one you download when register in secure web site.
