Power Management
Hi there,
Just got SageTV up an running on a laptop computer w/docking station and a WinTV PVR-350 TV Tuner. Everything works well, and I'm very exited about the future Sage TV version, and its overlay capabilities in conjuncture with TV-Out. As I live in Denmark, I have no access to any TV services, so i depend on the XMLTV plugin. This works - not perfect, mind you - but acceptable. The next step in my journey into the world of PVR software, is a way to control the power consumption, i.e. a way to put SageTV to sleep, use standby, and some means of waking up the computer, when it is time to do some recording. Has anyone had any experience in this area? Frey, thanx for a great product. I've been searching hi and lo for a product, that satisfy my needs, and I think I've found It. Regards, Lasse

Jman wrote an application that allows this. Do a search on "powermanagement" and download it. I use firedameon to run it as a service so I dont have that annoying dos box open all the time. It works great.

Thank you for the reply, falchulk
I have it up and running, but have experienced some problems, when waking up the computer. Some times I cannot wake up SageTV, for some reason. The recording (jman's utility) works fine though. Now I just need a more reliable source for EPG data. I currently get data from the danish national television TV2, using XMLTV, and the quality of this feed is somewhat low. Regards, Lasse

By sage not waking up properly, do you mean that the video does not show? If so, change to windowed mode and then back to full screen to restore the video. I had that problem on my old system but not on my new one.

Hi falchulk,
Man, that was a fast reply I have a freeze situation, where the only solution is to restart my computer. I hope I get the time to look into this in the weekend. Regards, Lasse |
