Beta 1.2.3 bug - program crash after 10 minutes

I loaded in Beta 1.2.3 (and yes, I know about Beta software) and noticed that while the program is in sync with my Creative Labs DVCR card, it will either crash after 10 minutes of recording a show or play intermittantly stopping every few seconds.

Any ideas? I have an nVidia card with the newest drivers, Sound Blaster Live 5.1 card, and a DVCR card.

Also, when I change channels sometimes, it will play back the last 5 seconds of audio from the previous channel over and over again. It doesn't stop unless I shut down and restart.

Send the sagetv_0.txt file from your SageTV folder to support@freytechnologies.com so I can take a look at it. Beta 1.2.4 has one more fix for the Creative cards in it which might solve your problem; and that should be out today. We've been doing extensive testing on the Creative card this past weekend so 1.2.4 should resolve all the issues with the card.

Thank you!

It did do a great job, but I also think that people should know about Elecard's MP3 DirectShow filter. Once I installed that, the sync was much better than it already was.

There was also another setting in Sage.Properties that said something like AlwaysTimeShift. I also set that to FALSE. Maybe it had something to do with it. I don't know, but it's now working very, very well.

You're talking about this one, right?
MPEG Layer III Audio Encoder for DirectShow
http://www.elecard.com/products/layer3encoder.shtml

I'm also using this setting as suggested by Jeff during testing:
seeker/fast_mux_switch=false

I'll have to try that AlwaysTimeShift setting. But wouldn't that setting be related to the intelligent recording?

FYI, I write more about using the Creative VB DVCR card and SageTV at my website.

FYI - the AlwaysTimeshift setting only affects SageRecorder and you should leave it at true. The only thing setting it to false can do is make the program crash when you're time seeking. I guarantee you it's not doing anyting else. I know, I have the code.

But the fast_mux_switch setting is something you should set to false if you're using the Creative card as Ruel pointed out.

Thanks,

Yes, that's the one. Someone posted a link to a review of the card and it had that link in it. At the time, the sync would drift off gradually, so I figured, why not....

Before installing the 1.2.4 beta, I ran that and was amazed that it would stay in sync much longer than before. Now that 1.2.4 beta is out, it stays in sync for the whole TV program.
