OEM + PVR-350 Fun
Is anyone running the 1.7.21177 drivers with a PVR-350
and a OEM Freestyle? I find that this is the only driver that works. But if I reboot after doing a fresh install of the drivers I loose the video output on the PVR-350. Also, I get a honest dropped frame (the MPEGII decoded frame is bad if I step through it frame by frame) about once every 5 minutes. Sometimes it's a full frame that's mucked up, sometime it's just a quarter of a frame. This is somewhat annoying. It would be nice to get a perfect recording. My cluster sizes are 4k, is this likely to be my problem? |

I do not have the hardware you have, but I know from experience 64k sectors help... also what drivers have you tried? There are several revisions available that are newer than what you are currently using.

Well, the 17.21219 drivers simply won't work with an
OEM Freestyle. If I modify the inf file so that it identifies the OEM board as a -15 encoder the software loads but when I try an run things the tuners don't work and I get lots of errors. The 17.21022 drivers also don't work very well for me. So the only drivers I have access to or can find on the web at the moment are 17.21177 [sorta works] 17.21219 [never works] 17.21022 [sorta not works] Is there an archive of old drivers somewhere so that I can just keep trying random things? |

Well, I found SHS's archive of drivers and here is the updated
compatibility matrix: 7.21177 works 7.21199 doesn't support Freestyle 7.21226 doesn't support Freestyle 7.21272 doesn't support Freestyle 7.21288 doesnt support Freestyle It looks like I'm out of luck. There are no modern drivers that function with the Freestyle. I guess I'm giving up. I'll go order a -16 PVR-250 and then try to make the -15 PVR-350 play nice with the -16 250. At least then I'll have drivers. I did sucessfully format to 64kb clusters though. Last edited by Potatophysics; 11-11-2003 at 09:55 AM. |

Potatophysics,
Please post if you get the 350 -15 and 250 -16 combo to work and what drivers worked. I have two 250 -16's and just got a 350 -15 and cannot get them to work together. I have the same problem that Fidget posted previously with the bottom 20% of the screen showing noise and the rest of the screen being really blocky. I've tried the latest few drivers with no luck. Does anyone have this combo working yet? Wally |

SHS is the man
I inquired over on SHSPVR forumn and SHS sent me a
magic inf file that lets the 7.21272 cd-rom install work with my OEM card. I'm testing it now and my PVR-350 is still outputting video. Thanks SHS! Curse you Hauppage. It's not over yet, although my PVR-350 output works now we shall have to see what happens after I reboot. Thanks to all who proposed ideas in this thread. |

Update:
The current inf files on the Hauppage site 21283 and the driver update 21288 will run with my PVR-350 and my OEM Freestyle board! In response to Wally, I just tried my -16 board in with the PVR-350 (left the Freestyle out) and nothing good happened. Using SHS's magic drivers I got a hang when I loaded the -350 driver and using the current Hauppage driver I always get a hang when Sage starts initializing the directshow drivers. I haven't fully tested the -16 on my system yet, and some day I will explore this further. It is all rather aggrivating to me as sometimes Sage won't see the cards and I have to scratch Sage and start all over again. This looses all my favorites and the current show library. |
