FSE Still Problematic in Version 6
I was happy to hear that Sage had finally addressed the full screen exclusive issues apparent with version 5. I see markedly better PQ with FSE, primarily a lack of tearing in fast moving video such as hockey.
I set disable_fse_on_focus_lost to true as discussed in this thread so I could switch to my music front end while watching video and to allow the screen saver to work properly. Unfortunately, Sage is not returning to FSE upon regaining focus. I am confident in this conclusion based on two behaviors. First, When I initially start Sage, the PQ is superb without tearing. Upon returning to Sage after switching focus to another app or minimizing Sage, the tearing returns. Second, when I first start Sage, the on screen volume display from Girder does not appear (it flickers, actually). When I return to Sage, the OSD from Girder appears normally. Finally, and I don't know how this is related exactly, although I think it shows that not even the disable_fse_on_focus_lost works as it should, my screen saver does not appear when Sage is first started. Sage loses focus (as the remote will not control sage, but instead it controls my music, which it does when the screen saver is active), but Sage remains on top. I'm not sure if this is how it's supposed to work, but I think disable_fse_on_focus_lost should allow the screensaver to come to the top. Anyone else seeing similar problems? - Jeff |

I can't standby my HTPC with FSE enabled... system hardlocks on resume.
I can't maximize my desktop and laptop clients while video is playing with FSE enabled... SageTV instantly crashes and vanishes.
