FireDTV and SageTV v6

I have recently upgraded my SageTV installation to V6. The main reason for me to upgrade the software is due to the built-in support for FireDTV. But after I installed the software I was under the impression that the only thing I needed to do was to add a new video source (for the FireDTV as a video capture device) and then configure the channels. But SageTV does not seem to detect FireDTV. In the “Setup Video Sources/Add New Source” menu SageTV only recognize my installed Hauppauge PVR PCI card.

The FireDTV itself is installed properly and are working with other software (e.g. MyTheatre).

I simply don’t understand how to configure SageTV (V6) and make it detect FireDTV and I cannot find any documentation on how to do this. Any help would be appreciated!

I recommend you contact Sage support.
Unless you installed the tuner while Sage is running and perhaps it got added to the ignored encoders in the properties file.
Close Sage and stop the service if running in service mode and check your sage.properties file. Search for the word ignore. Line reads something like mmc/ignored encoders or something similar. See if your FireDTV is listed there. If so remove that entry from the ignore line and start Sage back up.

ToxMox - thank you for your help and support! The above was exactly what caused the problem. I don't know why my FireDTV tuner ended up in the ignore encoders area - but it was. Instantly when I removed the entry from the property file SageTV was able to recognize the tuner and I could configure it properly.

Thanks again!

If you haven't already done so, report it to SageTV support (or via the bug report form) anyway -- supported tuners can be blocked from being added to the ignore list, so you should let them know of your results.

help tuning firedtv

I have a fireDtv-s and can't get it to tune any channels was wondering if the lnb settings need to go somewhere but not sure were.
Sage sees the FireDtv device I can select the satellite from the list but it refuses to tune any channels I know others have it working so was wondering what the trick is to get it fully working.
I have tried sagetv versions 6.3.5 and 6.3.10 and currently running win xp pro service pack 2.
