upgrade?

I bought sagetv 4.1 just before 5.0 came out. I was able to download and install 5.0 for free. If I am running 5.0, can I upgrade to 6.0 for free or will I have to pay the upgrade fee?

Per the announcement, v6 is free if you own a v5 license. Since you have a v4 license, you would need an upgrade license to use v6.

There is no upgrade fee for the clients.

The announcement actually missed v4.1.
"The upgrade is free for Version 5.0 owners and $30 for users of Version 4.0 or earlier."

"4.0 or earlier." Isn't 4.1 later than 4.0? That point 1 version number is important to me as well since I purchased this software on 3/15/2006. Not even a year old - maybe the 4.1 purchasers are really considered v5 owners due to the time that v5 came out?

I think the announcement should have been "v4.x" not "v4.0". The point is that if you don't have a v5.x license, you will need to pay an upgrade fee. There are several other threads discussing this exhaustively.

Hmmm, discussed exhaustively and yet the wording is not corrected? Looks like it needs more exhaustive work then. Versioning in announcements should not cause confusion and certainly should not require assuming.

I don't want to argue the point about my right to upgrade for free but I do find it important that the announcement should not be requiring assumptions to be made.
