Switched from Beyond TV to SageTV. What's the best way to handle 300 BTV recordings?
I would like the videos to show up in SageTV Recordings and ideally keep the commercial skip information, but am not sure how to procede.
Any advice is greatly appreciated. |

I used to use BTV before switching to SageTV. If I remember correctly, BTV generates xml files containing show info for each recording. SageTV doesn't do that, it stores the info in a single file called wiz.bin. I think there's a plugin that lets SageTV read .my file, which is similar to the xml file BTV uses. So a conversion tool for the xml to .my is needed. Otherwise, I think the shows will just show up as imported videos. The comskip data should still work if it is in the same text format as comskip plugins in SageTV, and also the comskip file name must match the show filename. If not, a conversion tool is needed there too.

I converted some time ago and did not find any easy way to move the recordings. If you use nielm's web server you can "edit show details" and that will move the shows to Sage's "archived recordings". The editing is a manual process so I only moved some of the shows and let Sage re-record the others I was interested in.
