Dual Pentium 3 vs. Pentium 4

For a sage server that placeshifts and does software encoding what would be better a Pentium 4 or a Dual pentium 3. I would take any suggestions. It would have 2 pvr-500's and a couple mvp's also. So how much more does the DVD re encoding tax the server for the mvp? Any info would help. Thanks!

How fast are they? I mean P3s only went to about 1GHz (1.2 maybe) but P4's have gone to nearly 4GHz

I guess figure the p3's are 1 Ghz and the p4 is 2.8 or so. I am going to a rackmount server and want to figure if I should go with a dual p3 or p4.

yes, this is a no brainer, go with the P4. And a dual P3 is not the same as a dual core.
